Dear Lithuania #1
Chances are that there might soon be more people knowing us in your country than (at least percentual) anywhere else in the world. The reason for that is this tv commercial for omnitel, lithuanias biggest mobile phone provider. We were made belief that the man in the film thinks that a phone without 3gs is only a phone and one might think about that as one wants, but we look forward to use that same 3gs net as soon as we come touring the baltic states! See you!!

Those portraits will be shown at an exhibition called "Rockpoeten", starting next week in berlin.

Laura Kikauka, "STRENGTH THRU EMBARRASSMENT", Opening Sat. Feb. 11 at MKG 127, Toronto (Runs: Feb. 11 - March 10, 2012) MKG127 is located in Toronto at 127 Ossington Avenue between Queen and Dundas Streets at the NE corner of Ossington Avenue and Argyle Street . Hours are Wednesday to Saturday from 12 to 6 PM or by appointment. For more information call 647- 435-7682. www.mkg127.com ![]() Laura Kikauka presents new work that combines the aesthetics of both intention and accident. In an act of double-appropriation, she alters a large collection of "art" purchases (largely from thrift stores) by collaging, drawing and painting excerpts from song lyrics into the found "art". The appropriation of found paintings and song lyrics makes the original artist and lyricist unwitting collaborators with Kikauka, thus creating a three-way collaborative process. The resulting visual works pose a game for the viewer, who may often recognize the song lyrics but might be puzzled to name the song from which the lyrics were borrowed. Kikauka appropriates lyrics from all genres of popular & unpopular song: classic rock, pop, new wave, punk, indie, country, metal, jazz and easy listening and from such musical suspects as Abba & Aerosmith to Zappa & ZZ Top and the many musicians in between.

Lonesome Times Video by Sven SchraderHere comes a video for our song "Lonesome Times" by Sven Schrader.
As it is the "smallest" song on our last record dealing with the rather huge theme of loneliness, it seems very fitting to us that the video comes along with all those tiny giants that once may have ruled your world too and that by now are probably forgotten, if not lonely. Chronicles
We´ve been looking through some old photos, flyers, drafts and notes.
For some of you it might be fun to look through what we chose to show. Goodbye MyspaceMyspace felt very good for a while. We remember how exciting it was to hear all that music, meet people and eventually even getting to know some of them in "real life". Putting a song to the page had a similar effect to publishing it. How great is that? But nothing lasts forever. We say: goodbye myspace and thank you for the good times.
"Smile #2" a Film by Sven SchraderHave a look at this very sweet & beautiful film! Sven asked us for the song "Smile" some time ago, and showed us snippets of the filming done last summer, the little boys and girls faces so heartbreaking, one could not say no. Now it almost feels like a second video to the same song and since we know that some of you got to know us through this song, what could be better than to get some more of it? Enjoy!
Berlin ShowYou might not have heard much of us lately, one reason is that we´re back at work on our second album.
There are about 20 songs we ´re working on right now. On the 22nd of july we nevertheless will play a show in berlin´s magnet club, a warm-up show for the festival: "jenseits von millionen". See you there! |
